my wonderful 4 yr old male mini poodle who weighs 9 pounds keeps peeing inside our home. We have had him about 3 months and hes wonderful except for that. He sometimes wont pee outside until he gets back inside. We take him outside regularly 5 or 6 times a day.He only has pooped inside about 2 or 3 times which is fine but the peeing ??? Any suggestions ?Can anyone tell me why my mini male 4 yr old poodle keeps peeing all over the floor inside my house?he hates you and wishes he had a better house to live in.|||has he been neutered. he could be marking his territory! Can anyone tell me why my mini male 4 yr old poodle keeps peeing all over the floor inside my house? Is your dog fixed? He could be marking his territory if there is a female dog in season.|||You should probably get the dog neutered if you haven't yet. They mark their territory that way.
You should also definitely potty-train him. That's a given.
When he pees in the house, yell at him and put him outside. (Even if he's not going to pee out there...) Whenever he does pee outside, let him in, give him a treat, hug him and tell him how good he is. Eventually he will get it. Dogs are relatively easy to potty-train, just do what I said. Can anyone tell me why my mini male 4 yr old poodle keeps peeing all over the floor inside my house?Possibility a bladder infection. Dogs do things to let there owners know they have a problem. I just took my lab to the vet yesterday, and now shes on meds.|||He could have just been marking his territory, when we first got my mini dacshund we wouldn't let him inside until we saw him go to the bathroom and he barly ever pees inside, but I don't know what is wrong with your dog!|||If he's not neutered do so|||Has the dog been neutered? It is the most important thing that you can do. He will stay healthier and will not develop problems later in life. Also could he have a urinary tract infection?|||Potty-Train him.
Since he's older, it will naturally be a little harder. But, he should eventually get it. When he poops inside, take it outside and let him see it.
Alot of people say rubbing the pup's nose in it isn't good, but they never say WHY! I believe it's the right thing to do. And I WILL say why --
-- this identifies the dog with what's wrong, otherwise they won't know.
It is blunt, and out-spoken, most every dog will get this.
If the urine is old, don't rub his nose in it. If you catch him in the act, scold him. "No No!" is best, he will understand this--if you use long sentences like, "No no! Bad Dog! You go potty outside, not inside! Bad Dog!" He will get confused. Plus, when you scold him, he will connect that to 'no-no' which is good.
Best wishes!|||Who trained your dog? You have to take them out every two hours while they are puppies and you have to crate them all the time till you get them conditioned. Someone messed up big time and you may never get him trained now. But by all means get a crate! Never leave him all by himself to run free in your house. No! It's not fine to poop in your house ever!! He is a dog. His kind are very high strung and nervous. But I believe you can change him with time. Have a nice day. And GOD bless.|||I would take yer dog to the vet an have him checked for diabetes .if he has sugar he is going in to some truama an he needs med attention ,advise yer vet of the peeing .i hope this helps you , also he could have a urine infection please see vet.|||do you think he is marking territory , is he fixed ?|||hi
i believe the reason your poodle is peeing all over the house is because he has stress
take him on walks
or perhaps he is not potty trained fully
train him to pee outside not inside|||He could have a urinary tract infection. My dog was doing the same thing and he is an older dog, sure enough he had an infection. Good luck to you.|||Well there are several reasons a dog will continue to pee where you don't want him to. First of all, if he sees you attempting to clean it up afterwards then he will keep on "watering" your carpet. The act of cleaning up after them means to them that it is okay. Take them outside when you clean up a mess that they left you and do not let them see you cleaning up after them.
A second reason is if you have not taken care of the odor or scent then they will continue emptying their bladders in your house. You cannot simply wipe up the mess and leave the scent. If a dog can smell it (and remember their since of smell is 100 times greater than ours) then he will think that this is where he is supposed to relieve himself. I have found that baking powder sprinkled on the area of the carpet and left for several minutes and then vacuumed up works best. Of course, dry the spot first with towels.
Another factor could be that you are leaving your dog alone to roam your home. Dogs should be box trained. Their kennel becomes their room and as long as it is not too large for them, they will never soil there living space (unless they are ill). Always place your dog in his "room" when you leave for long periods. If you let them roam freely when alone, then all bets are off.|||It's probably peeing on the floor because of gravity it can't pee on the CIELING. Another reason it might be peeing on the floor INSIDE your house is because you don't have a floor OUTSIDE your house. : )|||A crate is not necessary! Unless your dog was raised with crates, it would be very cruel to put him in one! I think crates are abusive!!! Do you lock your children in crates?
Just keep your dog in one room (if you can) until you believe you can trust him enough to roam the entire house. He will learn, he needs to be watched constantly. Let him in the house and watch him, then take him out at the first sign of him sniffing.
