I can choose between getting an English Spot and a Mini Rex so what are the differences? Mainly temperamental differences. What are the differences between English Spot and Mini Rex rabbits?Frankly, I wouldn't recommend either breed as a pet. Polish, Himalayans and Dutch all are much more reliable pets. Mini Rex are smaller (4.5 lbs max) than the English spots (8 lbs max) and are less active and probably a bit calmer.
As a judge, I handle thousands of rabbits a year - lots of Mini Rex and some English Spots. The English Spots are a "running breed" and are selected to be active on the judges table to show off their pattern. That is not to say they are nasty, just active and they really need a big cage to let out that extra energy. I have run into many very nice tempered Mini Rex but I have also run into a lot who needed an attitude adjustment. You want to select one very carefully if you choose this breed. Look at the parents for your clue. Temperament tends to be inherited!
The plus side of the Mini Rex is that the coat feels absolutely yummy and the curly whiskers are beyond cute. The down side of the same gene which gives you these characteristics is that it makes the toenails super sharp and you will need to stay on top of trimming and be extra careful how you handle your rabbit to avoid getting scratched.

mini rexes have an awesome temperament, and they are wonderful pets. they only get 3-4 pounds so theyre easy to carry around. you can get basically any color pattern in mini rexes because they come in a wide variety, but english spots only come in one.
i suggest mini rexes for sure if you pick one of theses breeds.
hope i helpedWhat are the differences between English Spot and Mini Rex rabbits?Their temperments are fairly similar actually. The differences are in their shape, coat and ears. Mini rexes have a very round shape with short ears and a high back end. Their coat is short and very plush, much softer than an English spot. They do have more molts per year than an English spot though so be prepared for shedding if you choose the rex!|||I have been around both breeds and i believe the min rex to be more kid friendly i am a 4-H adviser and I've helped out many kids with many different breeds for showmanship and the min rex would be at the top of my list for temperament just remember you need to Handel your rabbit everyday
good luck and have fun
