The JCW mini gp 2006 limited edition was stripped of rear seats and left very basic to improve the cars bhp and performance as a race car. My lads bootbilud is to heavy. What lightweight material would you suggest I use to keep the concept bootbiuld, but in a lighter caseing to replace the wood. What alternative should I consider to replace the heavy bootbiuld amp and subwoofer in my mini gp 2006?As snuff hunter suggested, fibreglass is the best option for your needs but please be aware that if you are going to attempt this yourself be prepared to put in the hours and hours of hard work, as you know fibreglass is Very strong but is it also flexible, when making any sub enclosure be sure to build up the layers until you reach a thickness of between 5-10mm 10mm to be best, Bracing is also a factor, a cross brace on the inside of the enclosure will make a world of difference and reduce enclosure vibration

Hope this helps you but if you do not decide to go down that route then im sure there will be a Specialist company who will either make or have a fibreglass enclosure to custom fit your car

MatWhat alternative should I consider to replace the heavy bootbiuld amp and subwoofer in my mini gp 2006?you should check the pioneer website

they do space saving subwoofers with built in amps which arnt that heavy and would be perfect to put under the front seats

or you could build a subwoofer enclosure with fibreglass and resin, thats alot lighter than wood
