Turntable is Numark USBTT, and connects to my old Aiwa midi hi-fi easily as that has stereo inputs (but the CD has stopped working and we need to get a smaller hi-fi!), however all the modern mini hi-fis in our price range (upto 拢250) only seem to have a single line-in input! (looking at the Sony CMT CPZ1 DAB model specifically) Can they be connected? I'm hoping there's a cable/connector? Have looked on maplins but its hard when you're not that techy! What do I need to connect turntable with stereo outputs to a single line-in input on mini hifi?Well what the first said, but its called a Y cable. Just make sure you get one that has the end (mini or regular jack) you need. What do I need to connect turntable with stereo outputs to a single line-in input on mini hifi?Yep, all you need is a phono to 3.5mm stereo jack cable (preferably gold plated if you don't mind paying for the extra quality). This will go from the line out of your turn table to the line in on your mini hi-fi.What do I need to connect turntable with stereo outputs to a single line-in input on mini hifi? The single line-in jack is almost certainly a stereo one.
I have tried to find a detailed description of the turntable on the web but they're all a bit vague.
However, I imagine that your defunct Aiwa didn't have a USB port so it probably had a pair of 'phono' sockets, one red and one white? And if that is so the turntable must have a pair of phono plugs as well as the USB connector?
Asuming the above is correct, all you need is a short lead with a pair of phono sockets on one end and a 3.5mm stereo jack plug on the other. I know they sell them in the 'States so I'm sure they will here too.
Explain your problem as you have done in your question to one of the guys a Maplin. They should be able to help.
