How do you get the crosspin out of the front sight on a mini-14, this the sight that came with the gun.How do you remove the crosspin from the front sight on a Mini-14?The pin is a rolled spring pin that spring tension helps hold it in place.
Removal is easy with the right tools, use a punch just slightly smaller the hole diameter.
lay the muzzle on a firm foundation so as the spring pin is vertical.
Do not block the path of which the pin will travel and with a small hammer tap the pin out.
You may wont to use some penetrating oil on the pin a few hours before you tap the pin out to allow freer movement.
I would recommend you use a flat surface punch and not a pointed punch.
The pointed punch will try and swell the spring pin and only do damage.
Do not try a nail or other soft metal pins that you have laying around.
Use the right tool for the job other wise you can damage the weapon.
