Are there any high-end mini-vans and what extra-special features do they have? What is the most luxurious mini-van on the market today?Mercedes is making the R series now and although they categorize it as a cross-over SUV, it is strikingly similar to a mini-van. I'm sure as far as equipment goes, a vehicle like the R would win hands down.
Another thing to consider is safety. I take that you're buying a mini van because you have a family. Do your research. The Hyundai and Kia mini-vans were mentioned (they're the same van). These are the safest mini-vans out there. You can go to the IIHS website (www.iihs.org) and find out all the crash ratings.
We sell Mercury Monterey's, and that is what my wife drives with our 3 kids. At the time, it was the safest of the mini-vans (2005). Ours is top of the line with power sliding doors, power liftgate, DVD, side impact air curtain, heated/cooled seats, leather, captains chairs, fold-flat 3rd row seat, 6disc CD, and much more. The new car incentives on these are huge and you can most likely still find a new 2006 on a lot somewhere. Mini-vans aren't the hot ticket right now, so they're a great buy new or used.
The Honda Odessy and Toyota Sienna are good vans, but check their crash ratings. It's behind the Hyundai, Kia, Mercury, and Ford models. And you're carrying your most precious cargo in these vehicles, your family. Toyota has a poor rear impact rating, and Honda has a marginal rear impact rating. This is the most common kind of impact in urban driving situations and this is where your kids will be sitting, in the rear of the vehicle. The Monterey and Freestar (same van), are best to buy with side air bags. If not, these vans have a poor side impact. With side air bags, they have an acceptable rating. FYI, the ratings go; Good, Acceptable, Marginal, Poor, in this order from best to worst.
I know that you were curious about features, and honestly, all makes will have some very nice luxury appointments available on their models. I just always have to chime in about safety when it comes to hauling families around.|||Hyundai Entourage is rated the safest minivan by the IIHS and the premium model has many luxury features like heated leather seats, power rear liftgate, power sliding doors, heated side mirrors, Homelink, multi-zone ventilation, and on-board tire pressure monitoring system. What is the most luxurious mini-van on the market today?lexus, mercedes|||The nicest mini-van you can buy in the U.S. overall is probably the Honda Odyssey Touring, in my opinion.
It has a 244 horsepower V6 with a 5 speed automatic, heated power leather seats, 360 watt stereo system with a 6 disc CD changer that also plays MP3's and has XM satellite radio, a DVD rear-seat entertainment center, 3 zone climate control, Run-flat tires, power lowering tailgate, parking/backup sensors, power adjustable pedals, Navigation system and rear row seats that disappear completely into the floor when you don't need them.
There are other minivans that have a lot of the same features, but I think this one is the cats meow as the minivans go because it has all that, plus it's pretty fast for a minivan with a nice smooth Honda V6 that gets great mpg for a minivan and handles the best out of any of the vehicles in its class. Combine that with Honda's awesome resale value and reliability and I'd say it's a winner. What is the most luxurious mini-van on the market today? The most luxurious minivan is the Chrysler Town and Country Limited. Chrysler vans are the best selling vans in the country so that tells you something about their popularity. They also have features other vans dont, like seats that fold into the floor. It would be my first and only choice for a luxury minivan.
As for the person that said Lexus or Mercedes. Lexus doesn't even sell a minivan and Mercedes is more of a crossover/sports tourer. Although the Mercedes R class would be a good minivan alternative if you can handle the high price tag.
