I just bought an 8 week old Mini Pinscher, and I'm wondering when should I start house training her? I have a crate for her, but she cries and cries when I put her in, why is this? Should I only put her in the crate when I'm not home?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! How early should I start training Mini Pin?start all training NOW.
good habits start at a young age.
by all means do crate train when you are away, but remember that the pup is a baby and will have to potty- A LOT. so it also may help, if you are away for an extended time (work? school?) to gate off a puppy proof room like a bathroom or laundry room and put papers down, food and water, and her toys.
the best way to crate train a pup is to feed them all their meals inside the crate.
starting training now also includes obedience and basic manners. enforce these in your min pin so that it will grow up to be a good pet, and not an obnoxious little yapper. (they tend to get "little dog syndrome" if not trained properly)|||Start house training now. Take her outside, to the same area, when she wakes up, after she eats, before bed, before and after being crated, and every 45 minutes in between. Praise her whenever she 'goes' outside. When she's loose in the house, keep her near you, watch her closely, and be ready to rush her outside if she looks like she's about to go. When you can't supervise her closely enough, put her in her crate. Make sure she 'goes' outside before you confine her, and don't leave her crated for more than an hour at a time. As she gets older, you can increase the length of time she's crated. How early should I start training Mini Pin?a puppy can start learning simple commands as early as 6-8 weeks...as for crate training it needs to be started as soon as possible..if she is crying in the crate...try leaving a radio or tv on lightly and see if that calms her down..sometimes you just have to leave them till they understand you are not coming back everytime they cry. If you constantly go back and check on them or let them out then they will keep doing it because they are getting your attention.|||hi there. basically the reason she is crying is because she is not used to being a crate. you should leave her in their from time to time so she can adjust and understand thats her place. you should put some treats in their for her so she feels confident and when she cries you just have to ignore. do not take her out every time she cries because she will associate crying with letting her out. you should start training her at 4 months old. this is the ideal time and the dogs are eager to learn. always use treats as a training tool. good luck. How early should I start training Mini Pin?No way should the puppy been taken away from the mother that early. Puppies should stay with the mother for at least 10 weeks. But you should start training right away. It's never to early. She cries cause she wants attention...puppies are just like babies. When you put a baby in a crib they are going to cry for bit...ignore her...she'll stop. You could crate her when your not home...but not for long periods of time...with that you risk her peeing/pooing on herself, anxiety issues, and poor socialization. You could always train her to what they call "puppy pads" when your not at home. You can enclose your kitchen or bathroom with her crate, toys, and water with her. Puppy pads have a scent in them that usually makes them want to pee/poo on them...mind you though...some puppies are scared of them. Always Monitor a puppies eating. Don't leave food down if your not home...higher risk of accidents happening. But always make sure she's eating...being left alone cause cause dogs to not want to eat cause they are more interested in you when you get home. Min Pins are hyper dogs and puppies....make sure she gets lots of exercise. Hope this helps...Best of luck to you.|||At eight weeks you should be setting up your puppy for success.
Take him where you want him to potty often and praise when he does either pee or poo.
Yes crate when you are not home and if you will be away for more than 4 hours arrange for someone to take him out.
When home and you can keep a VERY close eye on the puppy let him have some privileges after he has done his business. When you are busy have a place that is safe for the puppy where he can play but if he has an accident its not a big problem neither praise or punish for going in that area.|||Train when you get her home - crate training, potty training and obedience training.
