I would look for a cropped cardigan in a primary, the line of black showing up from beneath the cardigan will have a slimming look. If you are cold I would probably just use a wrap/shawl of some type. If you are not going to be outside too long (just from the car to the place) I would just skip the warmth and go without so you don't have to hassle with it once you get in.
