i inherited a pot with mini daffodils from my son and they just ren't looking reall good. I don't have any idea how to take care of them! How do i take care of mini daffodils? They do not last very long.
Put a piece of tape with the date on it on each pot. Place your pots in a dark, cool place (between 7 to 9 degrees C (40 to 48 degrees F) and water regularly for about 12 weeks (see chart). (You can also use your refrigerator for this purpose, but if you do so, carefully wrap the pots with a few sheets of newspaper so as not to let the light in each time you open the door.) Cover the pot with an open plastic bag to reduce the need for watering.
Keep the pots moist, and do not store with fruit. Ripening fruit gives off ethylene gas which can damage the developing bulb flower.
Time Table for Cold Treatment of Spring-flowering Bulbs
Convallaria (Lily-of-the-Valley): 10-12 weeks.
Crocus: 14-15 weeks.
Hyacinth: 10-13 weeks.
Iris - danfordiae & reticulata: 10-15 weeks.
Muscari: 14-15 weeks.
Narcissus: 12-16 weeks.
Tulip: 12-17 weeks.
When the cold period is over, move the pots to a warmer area in indirect or low light. Keep them there a week or two, then move them to a cool, sunny spot where they should flower -- to everyone's joy and amazement -- in about six weeks.
